East High Summer School Moves to Hoover

Summer classes that were scheduled to begin today at East High School will start one week from today (Thursday, June 19) at Hoover High School. Hoover High is located at 4800 Aurora Avenue in northwest Des Moines.

The change in location was made to facilitate the Des Moines Police Department’s need for temporary offices. Several DMPD operations have relocated to East High.

Approximately 950 students have registered for summer school. A revised schedule is being mailed to all students on Monday.

Summer school classes will be held at Hoover from 8:00 am to 12:10 pm. In addition, the afternoon driver’s education class originally scheduled for East will be held at Hoover in order to facilitate students attending morning classes.

Des Moines Public Schools is providing a shuttle busses from East High to Hoover High; one will depart at 7:10 am and the other at 7:25 am; busses will return from Hoover to East at approximately 12:15 pm.
